The next generation Kia Optima (also known as ‘Magentis’ in some markets) is set to make its world premiere next month at the 2010 New York International Auto Show.
“The next generation Optima possesses the power to surprise,” says Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer. “It’s a car that people will simply not expect from Kia – and that’s exactly what we set out to achieve.”
The all-new Optima exudes an athletic confidence from every angle and shutline – its raked roofline, the high and pronounced shoulder line of its sculpted flanks and its extended wheelbase, are complemented by boldly flared wheelarches and a shallow glasshouse that create a saloon with a muscular and self-assured stance.
The striking visage of the new Optima features a new interpretation of Kia’s bold ‘tiger’ family face that’s edged by piercing projector headlamps.
Longer, wider and lower than before, the Kia’s coupe-like profile is enhanced by the sweeping chrome arc that flows from the A- to C-pillar, a distinctive design mo-tif that visually lowers the car further still and enhances its cab-backwards proporti-ons.
Spacious, and with class-leading levels of safety and luxury equipment, the new Optima’s intelligently configured and driver-oriented cabin underlines this newfound poise and presence.
“The latest Optima embodies Kia's confident new design direction," says Schreyer. "It's a global car with individual appeal."
Customers seeking to have a more individual, dynamic look will inevitably choose the suitable body kit by JE DESIGN. The company delivers its components in the usual OEM-quality. That means that the material is made of high-quality ABS. As all components are CNC-milled, perfect fit is guaranteed. The kit for 1528 Euro including VAT includes the front spoiler with central spoiler sword in carbon look which already renders real verve when it is still parked.
The “fierce look” comes from the headlight blends and the powerful profile is enhanced with the side skirts. The rear skirt lip in carbon look is perfectly adjusted to the other parts and completes the aerodynamics kit. The rear skirt lip embraces the stainless steel double pipe of the sports muffler at the centre while the latter renders the appropriate sound to the latest appearance (599 Euro).
A main attraction is the LED daytime running light which is fitted to the vehicle front via an air inlet blend (entire set for 399 Euro). This registration-free LED daytime running light has two functions: when the dipped head lights are on, the LEDs are dimmed into parking light mode (position light). This renders a special night-look. When the dipped head light mode is off, the LEDs sparkle brighter in the daytime light mode and therefore improve the traffic safety.
The lowering springs are made for combination with the original shock absorbers (149 Euro). They lower the new polo by 35 millimetres and therefore bring more drive dynamic agility. Also the overall look is enhanced by this measure, as the little VW now seems significantly lower and looks far more daring. Customers seeking an even sportier look can opt for the KW coilover suspension made of stainless steel which can lower the car up to 65 millimetres (929 Euro).
Upgrading the wheels is elementary in automobile tuning. For its Polo programme, JE DESIGN offers the sporty-elegant wheel design “Multispoke” which consists of entire wheel sets. JE DESIGN offers them in either 7×17 inches ET 35 or 7.5×18 inches ET 35 with tyres measuring 215/40 R17 or 215/35 R18. Moreover, the customer can choose between the finishes “shadow silver” (in 17 inches altogether for 1809 Euro, in 18 inches for 1929 Euro) or “black matt/silver rim bead” (in 17 inches for 2260 Euro, in 18 inches for 2380 Euro). Also, an individual finish is available, e.g. in black matt with a bead in the car colour (see pictures). JE DESIGN will disclose the individual prices on demand.
In contrast to the extremely dynamic outer look of the car, the interior is especially luxurious. The leather equipment Elegance (1599 Euro) turns the cockpit into a noble travel centre. Also the steering wheel (399 Euro), the gear shift skirt and the hand break cuff (together for 179 Euro) are lined with finest leather. The colour of the leather and the seam can be chosen freely and therefore individually selected – as seen on the photographs, also ultra-suede is available in various types. Special seam stitches, as e.g. “Diamond Cut” (see images) perfect the interior – even without any surcharge. JE DESIGN offers even more individuality with embroidering a logo according to customer preference into the backrests of the front seats (79 Euro).
For even more comfort, there is a two-stage seat heating (379 Euro), electrically adjustable lordosis support for back-friendly travels (319 Euro) or the massage system in the seats (429 Euro) where the driver can indulge into a silent massage offering twelve programmes and six massage hubs.
And if there is a demand for enhancing the performance, JE DESIGN can help soon. Performance enhancements for all Diesel- and TSI-engines are already in development.
If some engine puts the final nail into the coffin of the mainstream V-8, it’s the newborn 3.0-liter emotional V-6 in Audi’s 2010 S5 Cabriolet and S4 sedan. Rated 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet, it’s 20 horses shy of the 4.2-liter V-8’s power sort and its match on twist. We got a hurried sampling of the newborn engine in the cloth-lid S5.
Our testing reveals the S5 ragtop is meet half a second slower — or inferior hurried — from 0-60 mph than the V-8 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG and V-8 S5 coupe. In the quarter mile, it’s 0.8 second slower than the Benz, 0.5 slower than the S5 hardtop. The Cabriolet’s newborn engine seems poised for the newborn CAFE order, with 17/26 mpg EPA numbers, versus 16/24 for the S5 V-8 coupe with the S tronic and 14/22 for the drill coupe. (The S4 litter with the emotional 3.0 gets 18/27 mpg with the manual; 18/28 with S tronic.) Engine downsizing, even among expensive Teutonic performance cars, is the Next Big Thing, and Audi has trumped BMW, which is going backwards to a six-cylinder engine for the incoming M3.
The 3.0 TFSI features gas direct injection and the intercooled supercharger — \”T\” typically means \”turbocharged\” in VW and Audi engines, but apparently SFSI doesn’t seem sporty enough. While its sound is distinctively blown-V-6, Audi has adjusted it to sound the conception of a V-8 killer, but with a higher pitch. The brappy soundtrack is accentuated by back-pressure burbles during upshifts of the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, when you get battleful with the throttle.
Audi’s facelifted ‘10 A6 sedan is acquirable with the new supercharged 3.0, detuned to 299 horsepower. Even in the larger, heavier car, the engine is a match for any non-tuner V-8 competition, whether BMW 550i, Mercedes-Benz E550 or Audi’s possess 4.2-liter-powered A6. And we averaged 21.9 mpg.The S5 ragtop is more a Mercedes AMG competitor than a BMW M competitor. It’s substantially bigger and heavier than a BMW 3 Series/M3, and it feels a taste more relaxed, more like a big AMG Benz. As with every Audis, the brake feel like they could stop a move on a dime. Our 60-0-mph figure beats the Benz SLK55 by nine feet and a Lexus SC 430 by 14. The seven-speed S tronic remains perhaps the best dual aggregation in the industry, with near ratios that will have you upshifting and downshifting maybe a taste likewise much. While we were unable to figure-eight-test it, the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GTs substance heaps of appendage and the support is sufficiently formal for flat cornering and slick handling. If you’re hunt a more easygoing convertible, look elsewhere. The S5’s support feels formal over road imperfections, and the automobile feels heavy. There is sufficiency support deference for the casual enthusiast, however. Steering is hurried and direct, with good feedback. Cowl shake is minimal, but it’s there — this is a unibody automobile fashioned first as a coupe, after all.
BRABUS (www.brabus.com), accepted by the German Federal Vehicle Registration Agency (Kraftfahrtbundesamt) as an automobile manufacturer, offers this high-performance automobile capable of reaching speeds in excess of 370 km/h (230 mph) starting at 478,000 Euros MSRP.
Like the fourth-generation BRABUS E V12 sedan the new E V12 Coupe is powered by a BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 displacement engine. Drawing upon decades of experience in developing and building high-performance vehicles the twelve-cylinder engine was fitted into the engine bay of the two-door E-Class.
A wider track means better directional stability at high speeds. Because of that BRABUS has developed special carbon-fiber sport fenders with integrated air vents for the front axle. Special carbon-fiber rear fenders add 60 millimeters (2.4 in.) to the width of the coupe on the rear axle. The BRABUS E V12 Coupe runs on especially wide wheels fitted with high-performance tires from Pirelli or YOKOHAMA. The 19-inch combination is perfect for the enormous top speed the car is capable of. The wheels are 9.5 inches and 10 inches wide and customers can choose from BRABUS Monoblock designs VI, E, Q and S. Tires in size 265/30 ZR 19 are mounted on the front axle. Size 285/30 ZR 19 tires on the rear axle provide optimal traction.
The BRABUS high-performance brake system meets the toughest demands, on the road or on the track. The front axle features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and vented and grooved steel brake discs measuring 380 x 37 millimeters (15.0 x 1.5 inches). The rear axle stops on six-piston aluminum fixed calipers gripping discs measuring 360 x 28 millimeters (14.2 x 1.1 inches). The BRABUS high-performance brake system incorporates all functions of the standard Brake Assist system of the Mercedes E-Class.

Nissan Motor Company has recently acquired the light Nissan parts tuning division of the Nissan Motorsports International Company (or NISMO). This was done so that such service may be availed easily as this will be evenly distributed in Nissan dealerships across Japan.
The division of light Nissan parts tuning has a bigger following compared to motor sports tuning. For that, the service that has a bigger demand has to reach more customers, thus Nissan took hold of the light-tune auto parts business. In this set up, more Nissan owners that are seeking expertise on NISMO light auto parts and tuning can avail of the service practically in any Nissan dealer in Japan.
Customizing and tuning are some of the booming markets in the automobile industry that Nissan has taken advantage of in its homeland. In a few years, the company is also planning to bring the same services abroad.
Nissan Motor Company is keen in keeping motorists and automobile enthusiasts excited as it releases bits and pieces about its upcoming concept car christened as Nissan Forum. New sketches of the futuristic minivan came out as teasers to its debut introduction in the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in Tennessee this January.
Among the unique Nissan Parts the Forum Concept has is the ‘Turntable Seating.’ These middle seats are designed to be capable of a 90 or a 180-degree rotation. So, these can face the back row that makes the passengers more intimate in terms of the positions of the seats. Such feature of the Nissan Forum, however, is said to be similar to the American-made 2008 Chrysler Town and Country mini van with the ‘Swivel n Go’ seats.
Aside from the futuristic seats of the Forum, there are other Nissan Parts that are still kept undisclosed by the Japanese automobile company. This initiative taken by the company is meant to keep the highlights of the vehicle down low to avoid other automobile manufacturers in copying its ideas.
The few details being given away by the company is sure to make rear passengers-focused Nissan Forum one of the anticipated concepts in the annual auto show.
